Having been at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic since it started, Dr. Anthony Fauci has become a household name due to him advising both the Trump and Biden administration when it came to how America dealt with the virus. Not to mention the dozens of times the doctor appeared on news outlets, daytime talk shows, and even exclusive interviews. Although the Biden administration continues to ask for more funding in order to fight COVID-19 and hopefully convince people to take the controversial jab, it appears the end of an era has come as Dr. Fauci admitted that no matter who wins the 2024 Presidential election, he will be stepping down as the nation’s leading infectious disease expert.

Before he made the announcement while speaking with Neil Cavuto on Fox News, Dr. Fauci was adamant that he would resign if former President Donald Trump ran and won again. But now, it appears the doctor won’t stay even if a Democrat wins. Dr. Fauci’s plans were revealed when Cavuto asked, “You’ve dealt with COVID under this administration and the prior administration. Would you continue serving that role if the prior president, Donald Trump, returns to the White House?”

Dr. Fauci said, “Well, I’m not going to get involved in any politics about who is or is not going in the White House. By the way, by the time that happens, I think I won’t be around, no matter who the president is.”

Even after Cavuto asked him if that meant he was finished, Dr. Fauci laughed, “No, I’m not done yet. But you’re talking about a few years from now. And I don’t foresee that I will be doing this a few years from now.”

Cavuto asked again, “So, no matter who is president, whether it’s Joe Biden getting reelected or someone else, Donald Trump or anyone else, you would not continue?”

Noting the number of decades he has dedicated, the doctor concluded, “That’s exactly correct. I have been doing this now for 38 years. It will be over 40 years if I wait that long.”
