Much like President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris has had a rather difficult time when it comes to her duties within the White House. Not only did Harris fail to fix the Southern border crisis as hordes of migrants continue to cross, but when it came to representing America on the world stage, she often followed the antics of President Biden by forgetting her words and fumbling her speeches. But although Harris might be having a rough time learning her new role, MSNBC host Joy Reid believed that it wasn’t her fault as the media is controlled by white men.
In an interview with the Root, Reid suggested that Harris is doing a great job and it is only because of the white media that she has been presented as incompetent. “Most of the media is still white and male. And their take on Kamala Harris becomes the take. It becomes conventional wisdom.” The host added, “She’s just a regular sister in the same way people would always say that Michelle Obama is like if your cousin became first lady. Kamala Harris is like if your cousin became VP of the United States. I think she doesn’t get to show that personality often enough, and so people haven’t had a chance to get to know her.”
While Reid wanted to place the blame on the white media, it should be noted that over a dozen staffers for Harris have quit due to what they claim to be an unhealthy work environment. One source stated, “People are thrown under the bus from the very top, there are short fuses and it’s an abusive environment. It’s not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported but a place where people feel treated like s***.”
According to Fox News, Harris was scheduled to have a photo op for the Democratic National Committee with a price tag of $15,000 per a photo, but due to tickets not selling, that price dropped to $5,000.
Comments online criticized the high prices per ticket. “How about slashing gas prices? It will cost American households an additional $5,200 this year to pay for Kamala and Joe Biden’s inflation and record gas prices. $433 more per month for the same goods and services compared to last year.”
As of now, a staggering 52% of voters disapprove of her performance.
