SEATTLE, WA – While Americans struggle through inflation at the pumps, grocery stores, and just about every facet of life, Washington State Representative Pramila Jayapal has recently said that inflation is “theoretical.”

Even so, “squad-member” Jayapal voted for Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act (which, of course, didn’t help inflation at all but rather added billions more to congressional spending).

“And it [the Inflation Reduction Act] is ultimately going to lead to a reduction in overall inflation,” Jayapal told Fox News, “but most importantly, to the budget that people have every single day. ‘Inflation’ is like a theoretical word that economists use, but what families feel every day is the up or down of costs.”

It’s confusing that she doesn’t believe inflation is occurring, and yet she voted in favor of the massive spending bill that passed last week in an alleged effort to fight the same.

Democrats assert that the “only way” to fight inflation is to raise taxes, which is exactly what the act does, to the tune of nearly $800 billion in taxes on Americans and corporations over the next ten years.  

A large portion of the enormous spending bill went towards climate change. It’s unclear what climate change has to do with the soaring prices of, well, everything.

Local investigative reporter Jason Rantz reached out to Jayapal’s office for clarifying comments but did not receive a response.

Rantz reported, “At best, the Inflation Reduction Act reduces inflation by .01%, according to a University of Pennsylvania Penn Wharton analysis released just before the vote. Still, Democrats needed to deliver the president a legislative win ahead of the midterm elections where pollsters expect Republicans will win back the House and possibly the Senate.”

ABC’s Jonathan Karl asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about the current inflation crisis. “Isn’t it almost Orwellian?” he asked. “How can you call it the Inflation Reduction Act when the nonpartisan experts say it’s not going to bring inflation down?”

“I appreciate the question,” she responded. “We’ve actually addressed this with the CBO. The top line number, there’s more in there that shows that it will have the money…It’s making sure that billionaires in corporate America are paying their fair share, making sure that the tax code is a little bit more fair. So when you do that, when you put it in its totality, you will see it will bring down the deficit, which will help fight inflation.”

Meanwhile, as taxes are set to be raised even higher to purportedly assist with inflation, the IRS is hiring for the position of Criminal Investigation Special Agents, which they said requires applicants to “be willing to use deadly force, if necessary.” Though that requirement was taken down after outrage from the public, it remains that the IRS’ budget was increased six times by this new bill, hiring 87,000 more agents to crack down on citizens paying their taxes.
