During the 2020 Presidential election, Joe Biden consistently struggled when it came to giving speeches, walking, and connecting with the voters. On top of his antics, news quickly spread that the laptop of Hunter Biden had been discovered abandoned at a repair shop. The contents of the hard drive would give an in-depth look at who Hunter Biden really is, the people with whom he aligns himself, and how he used his father’s position in Washington, D.C. to expand the Biden family’s wealth.
Besides the business dealings, there were the escorts, guns, and drugs that also seemed to follow Hunter whenever he decided to film himself. Although once deemed Russian disinformation, with the laptop authenticated, it appears a great deal of Senators want a special counsel formed to investigate the son of Joe Biden.
On Monday, 33 Senators of the United States, which makes up around one-third of them, signed a letter demanding an investigation into Hunter Biden. The New York Post reported, [1] “[A]ddressed to Attorney General Merrick Garland and signed by 33 Republicans, [the letter] mentioned the ‘politicization’ of the Department of Justice (DOJ), a subsequent decline in public trust in federal authorities, and numerous whistleblower allegations of corruption and political bias at the FBI as reasons why special counsel status should be granted to U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who is currently conducting the investigation.”
Created by Senator John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, the letter stated, “Given the politicization of the DOJ under your watch and the importance of avoiding any appearance of impropriety, the undersigned request that you provide U.S. Attorney Weiss the full protections and authorities of a special counsel. This is one important action that you can take that will go a long way in restoring faith in our governmental institutions.”
The letter continued, suggesting the Senators had no idea how long the list of crimes against Hunter Biden could be. “There is no way of knowing the entire scope of the investigation, but evidence seems to be mounting that Hunter Biden committed numerous federal crimes, including, but not limited to, tax fraud, money laundering, and foreign-lobbying violations.”
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham also discussed [2] the idea of an investigation on Fox News, claiming, “I believe that you should have somebody looking at Hunter Biden other than a Delaware prosecutor. We’re having a prosecutor in the guy’s home state. The prosecutor is a fine fellow, but can you imagine what the left would do if I suggested we should not have had a special counsel in the Mueller investigation? We had a guy. It worked. What I am saying is, given all the evidence is coming out about Hunter Biden, the laptop is real. Every media outlet in this country suppressed a story, including social media. The laptop is real. They said it wasn’t. I want somebody outside of politics, Delaware politics, looking at Hunter Biden like they looked at Trump. That’s not unfair.”
