Although the Supreme Court overruling Roe v. Wade caused shockwaves through the mainstream media and the Democrats, the topic of abortion has been tense for decades. Just looking at the last year, a group of pro-lifers now find themselves standing in front of a federal grand jury after they were arrested in March of 2021 for not leaving an abortion clinic during a demonstration on the importance of saving an innocent life in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.

Announcing the chargers on Wednesday, the Department of Justice wrote, “Chester Gallagher, Heather Idoni, Calvin Zastrow, Coleman Boyd, Caroline Davis, Paul Vaughn, Dennis Green, Eva Edl, Eva Zastrow, James Zastrow and Paul Place were indicted for federal offenses in connection with an alleged reproductive health care clinic blockade in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, on March 5, 2021. Gallagher, Idoni, Calvin Zastrow, Boyd, Davis, Vaughn and Dennis Green were charged with a civil rights conspiracy. All 11 defendants were charged with a Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act) offense.”

If found guilty of the charges against them, the Department of Justice noted, “the seven conspiracy defendants each face up to a maximum of 11 years in prison, three years of supervised release and fines of up to $350,000. The remaining five defendants face a year in prison, one year of supervised release and a fine of up to $10,000.”

The news outlet, The Tennessean, detailed how the entire ordeal started in the first place when the group broke the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. “A federal grand jury indicted the 11 on violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which prohibits even temporary interference with reproductive health care services. The group livestreamed their protest, which they called a ‘rescue,’ outside the doors of the Mount Juliet carafem clinic on March 5, 2021, with several members physically blocking a patient and employee from accessing the clinic, according to court documents. Seven people were charged with conspiracy against rights secured by the FACE Act and committing FACE Act violations.”

While the group navigates the court system, many users pointed to the Black Lives Matter movement and how they ransacked cities all over the country. What is even more interesting is how very few arrests came from the Black Lives Matter protests. And if some might have forgotten, these protests came with looting, violence, and crime. One user suggested, “I suppose that calling abortion ‘healthcare’ gives the clinics special protection. I don’t recall anyone facing 11 years for blocking roads and sidewalks and intimidating the general public during the summer of mostly peaceful arson.”

Another one declared, “But when democrat rioters block highways, hold people hostage in their cars, interfere with interstate commerce, and prevent emergency vehicles from responding to emergencies. That’s not a prosecutable offense. Bizarro world.”
