Elon Musk’s newly minted Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is taking a sledgehammer to wasteful spending, with its latest target being the bloated diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives entrenched in the Department of Education (DOE).

In just two days, DOGE slashed $370 million in taxpayer-funded DEI grants, pulling the plug on 70 separate programs.

As The New York Post reported, the cuts were announced in a post on X, with DOGE revealing that these grants had been quietly funneling millions into leftist indoctrination under the guise of “teacher training.”

One such program was paying for educators to “engage in ongoing learning and self-reflection to confront their own biases and racism” while adopting what they called an “asset-based anti-racist mindset.” Translation: taxpayer-funded woke brainwashing.

This is just the latest in a string of DEI-related cuts by DOGE. Just weeks ago, the watchdog agency axed $9.7 million in funding for UC Berkeley, which had been earmarked for a program aimed at developing a “cohort of Cambodian youth with enterprise-driven skills.”

While that may sound nice in theory, in practice, it was yet another example of taxpayer dollars being funneled into identity-based social engineering projects.

But DOGE isn’t stopping there. Days before this latest round of spending cuts, the department terminated 89 DOE contracts totaling $881 million—more than $100 million of which had been dedicated to DEI programs.

These cuts are sending a clear message: the days of taxpayer-funded social justice experiments are over.

Conservatives have long warned about the grip that DEI ideology has on American education, and DOGE’s efforts appear to be the first serious attempt to course-correct.

Independent Women’s Voice CEO Heather Higgins summed up the sentiment in a post on X, responding to the latest cuts with a simple yet effective “Hurrah.”

Meanwhile, the DOE is doubling down on its crackdown on DEI policies. Last week, it issued a directive to all 50 state education departments, ordering them to eliminate DEI-based policies within 14 days or risk losing federal funding.

The letter minced no words, calling out the “overt and covert racial discrimination that has become widespread in this nation’s educational institutions.”

“The law is clear: treating students differently on the basis of race to achieve nebulous goals such as diversity, racial balancing, social justice, or equity is illegal under controlling Supreme Court precedent,” the letter stated.

With Musk’s DOGE leading the charge, the government’s DEI gravy train is finally coming to a screeching halt. And judging by the left’s silence, they know the free ride is over.
