Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced that the Trump administration is officially restarting border wall construction, beginning with a seven-mile stretch in Arizona, as Fox News reported.
In a video posted to her X account, Noem reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to securing the border and making America safe again.

Noem’s announcement comes as part of a broader push to restore border security after years of Biden-era neglect.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed in a press release that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) had awarded a $70 million contract to Granite Construction Co. to begin work in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.
Standing along the southern border, donning CBP gear, Noem declared:
“Everybody, I’m here in Arizona, and right at this spot, you can see where the border wall ends. As of today, we’re starting 7 new miles of construction, we’re going to continue to make America safe again.”

The new construction will be paid for using CBP’s Fiscal Year 2021 funds—money that had already been allocated before Biden came into office and promptly halted all border wall projects.
While the Biden administration was forced to allow the construction of 20 miles of border barriers in South Texas in 2023 due to previously allocated funds, it was clear that securing the border was never a priority for his administration.
Under Trump’s first term, 458 miles of primary and secondary barriers were built, replacing outdated structures and reinforcing America’s defenses against illegal crossings.
Vice President JD Vance, who recently visited the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas, emphasized that Trump’s goal is to finish the job entirely.
“I think the president’s hope is that by the end of the term we build the entire border wall.”
He also noted that beyond the physical structure, new advancements in surveillance technology and artificial intelligence could further enhance border security.

The difference between Trump’s border policies and Biden’s failures is staggering. Under Biden, illegal crossings soared to crisis levels, with an estimated 1,800 illegal migrants evading capture every single day at the peak of the chaos.
Now, with Trump back in charge, that number has reportedly dropped by 90%, according to Fox News’ Bill Melugin.
Border agents are now spotting an average of just 77 “gotaways” per day—a stark contrast to the uncontrolled surge that took place under Biden’s open-border agenda.
The data is yet another confirmation that when America enforces its laws and secures its borders, illegal crossings plummet.

Trump’s second administration is proving that border security isn’t just rhetoric—it’s action. The restart of construction is just the beginning, with more miles of border wall expected to follow.
Meanwhile, as Biden and his allies continue to push radical policies that prioritize illegal migrants over American citizens, Trump and his administration are taking decisive steps to protect national sovereignty.
With illegal crossings dropping, construction restarting, and new security measures on the way, the message is clear: America will have strong borders, whether the left likes it or not.
