Riley Gaines Partners with XX-XY Apparel Company to Celebrate Women’s Sports [WATCH]

Sex-based rights advocate Riley Gaines is partnering [1] with XX-XY Athletics, the apparel brand founded by former Olympic gymnast Jennifer Sey, to release a new limited-run clothing line marking the 53rd anniversary of Title IX.

The new “capsule collection” was announced Tuesday and coincides with growing national debate over gender policies in women’s sports.

Title IX, a federal law enacted in 1972, prohibits sex-based discrimination in education programs and activities, including athletics.

“This drop comes at a critical cultural moment,” XX-XY Athletics said in a statement.

“As debates intensify around fairness and opportunity in girls’ and women’s athletics and American values soar, XX-XY Athletics and Riley Gaines are sending a clear message: we’re not backing down.”

Gaines, a 12-time NCAA All-American swimmer and former University of Kentucky team captain, became a prominent voice in the national conversation surrounding gender identity in athletics after speaking out against University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas, a biological male who competed on the women’s team.

Gaines tied with Thomas in a national championship event and later criticized the NCAA and other sports governing bodies for what she described as policies that “erase women’s sports.”

The collection is styled in what the company describes as Gaines’ “signature red, white and blue” theme, with a central focus on the phrase “BE BOLD.”

According to the brand, the capsule line is designed to celebrate “biological reality” and reaffirm the original intent of Title IX in preserving female-only spaces in athletics.

Jennifer Sey, the founder of XX-XY Athletics, launched the brand after leaving her executive position at Levi’s, where she said she faced backlash for speaking out against school lockdown policies and for voicing support for women’s rights based on biological sex.

Sey, a former national champion gymnast, has since focused on creating a platform that she says centers truth in sex-based distinctions and fairness in sport.

“Title IX was a revolutionary step forward for women in education and athletics,” Sey said in a recent interview.

“It’s time to recommit to its original purpose. This collection honors that legacy and the courage of athletes like Riley who are standing up when it counts.”

XX-XY Athletics markets its products with the slogan “Truth in Sport,” and emphasizes a mission rooted in biology over ideology.

The brand has previously drawn attention for taking public stances opposing the inclusion of biological males in female sports categories.

Gaines echoed similar views in her recent appearances across the country, where she continues to advocate for legislation that maintains single-sex competition in high school and collegiate sports.

She has testified before lawmakers and spoken at various events where she has called for greater protections for female athletes.

The Title IX capsule collection will be available exclusively through XX-XY Athletics’ online store and will feature apparel with pro-women’s sports messaging.

The brand has not announced how long the limited edition will be available.
