The Associated Press reported that Hasbro, who is famous for their toys and cartoons, including childhood favorites such as G.I. Joe and Transformers, will remove a Trolls doll from shelves over concerns it will lead to child abuse.

Jessica McManis started an online petition demanding the toy be removed from stores nationwide, including major retailers such as Walmart and Target.

Her concern, along with those who signed the petition, is that the activation button on the doll to make her giggle is located under her skirt and between her legs.

She says the following in her petition:

“This is not okay for a child’s toy! This toy needs to be removed from our stores,” and continues to say “what will this toy make our innocent, impressionable children think? That it’s fun when someone touches your private area?”

While pedophilia is not okay in any shape or form, and offenders should be punished to the highest extent possible, claiming the “Trolls World Tour Giggle and Sing Poppy” doll is creating monsters seems to be a stretch too far. Though we do agree with the point that promoting touching in that area seems like an ill-minded decision on the part of the creators, intentional or not, and should be addressed.

Hasbro stated that they are in the process of removing the above mentioned doll from stores nationwide.

A Hasbro spokeswoman said they understand the sensor’s placement may be perceived as inappropriate and further said “this was not intentional and we are happy to provide consumers with a replacement Poppy doll of similar value through our consumer care team.”
