With the death toll from COVID-19 rising over one million people worldwide, many are anxiously waiting for treatment as lockdowns continue the plague the world. While the pandemic has certainly changed the way people interact, a new petition signed by over 6,000 scientists is urging the lockdowns to cease as they are causing “irreparable damage”.

Named after the Massachusetts town it was signed in, the Great Barrington Declaration urges governments around the world to stop the lockdowns because according to scientists – it isn’t really doing anything to help. As of October 4th, the petition has gained the signatures of 2,826 scientists, 3,794 medical practitioners, and a staggering 60,000 members of the public. In other words, people don’t see what the lockdowns are doing.

While petitions don’t necessarily have to be backed by any evidence, it should be noted that this one was co-authored by Dr. Martin Kulldorff. Who is he exactly? Dr. Kulldorff is a professor of medicine at the prestigious college Harvard. Other authors include Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, a professor at Stanford University Medical School, and Sunetra Gupta, a professor at Oxford University. Needless to say, they might just know what they are talking about.

According to the petition, “As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists we have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection.”

Not only does the petition call for the stop of the ludicrous mandates put on the American people by the Democrats, but it also gives a solution to the growing COVID problem. The petition states, “The most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk.”

As for the gaining momentum of the petition, Dr. Kulldorff says, “We are very pleased with the reception that the Great Barrington Declaration has received, with over 75,000 co-signers in less than two days, including over 3,000 Medical and Public Health Scientists and over 4,000 Medical Practitioners.”

The hope of the medical professionals is not to approach the pandemic as a “herd immunity” but to rather let the stronger people continue with their daily lives while the more vulnerable are taken care of. The scientists believe over time a natural immunity will develop as it has done in the past.
