Months of riots, protests, and Democratic control have left Portland in a dire state. Citizens are worried the violence will continue even after election days as Democrats have yet to take back their city. Growing tired, some Portlanders and community leaders are standing up, forming their own coalition to fight rioting and restore order to their beloved city.

Witnessing the power of the radical left, the coalition has already taken drastic steps to take back their city. One such step was opening up a discussion with potential city leaders. Their hopes are the discussion will show the natural-born leaders among Portland.

In a statement released by the coalition, it says, “Our mission is simple: To Save Portland. We are a diverse grassroots coalition of concerned Portlanders who are fed up with the anarchy and policies of appeasement that allow our city to burn. Our goal is to restore a Portland that can maintain law and order while dealing appropriately with bad cops when needed. A Portland that can protect prosperity and peace for everyone. A Portland that is not boarded up, smashed, burned, and covered in graffiti. A Portland that remembers that liberty does not equal anarchy. A Portland that can live together in true harmony.”

The coalition to save Portland first made headlines for its co-founder, Gabe Johnson (48), who lives just two blocks away from the riots and is African American. It wasn’t until he witnessed their wrath in person that he knew this was no revolution – it was a poison seeking to destroy livelihoods and the great American dream.

Since the riots, Johnson has not only changed from Democrat to unaffiliated but also called on leaders to stand up for Portland. Talking to the press, Johnson said,

“We have to face facts. Portland is dying. I live so close to the Justice Center that the tear gas has infiltrated my apartment through the air conditioning when police broke up the riots. Explosions at these riots continually interrupt my sleep. This is a natural result of Portland’s failed leadership.”

“It’s not just the riots. It’s the fact that arson has increased by 400% in Portland this year. Shootings are up almost 200%. Violent crime is out of control. And our city leaders and prosecutors have a catch-and-release program for rioters and bad actors who have spread the violence all across our city. The members of our coalition have heard endless pleas from Portlanders who need an alternative to vote for in the mayor’s race. Ted Wheeler has shown a complete lack of leadership, while his opponent supports the anarchists of antifa. There has to be a better way.”

While a few potential leaders have come forward, Johnson is hopeful that his city can be saved if the right people stand up. The coalition aims to bring faith leaders, community leaders, and concerned citizens together, forming a massive base that could invoke real change and a better future for Portland.
