This would be a nation shorn of the leftist wings of the Upper Northeast and the West Coast. Vermont and her neighbors can join Canada or go for independence. Same with the three West Coast states. That gives them the multiculty authoritarian socialism regime they want, by themselves or with Canada, and consistent center right government in the remaining United States of America. We would retain all of our military bases in these areas.

But to forestall what drove the national divorce some constitutional changes would have to be made here. We provide suggestions for new and old amendments.

1) Restore the 17th Amendment and make the Senate a true upper chamber again as the Founders designed it.

2) “No person shall be afforded advantage or disadvantage in any public circumstance because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender.”

3) Raise the voting age back to 21, with a military waiver for 18. The votes of the active duty military, veterans, police officers, and police veterans will be counted a further 50 percent, 1.5 vote per those who fall into those categories, for the purposes of national elections.

4) “No person shall serve as president, and thus Commander in Chief, unless they have previously served in the armed forces.”

5) “Free speech shall not be abridged in any way, unless by provable libel or slander.”

6) “The right to bear arms shall not be abridged in any way, aside from those convicted of violent crimes.”

7) “The president shall stand, per the British model, in the well of the House once a week for Question Time to be conducted with the Leader of the Opposition. That Leader shall be a member of the opposing party from that of the party that occupies the presidency. That Leader will be the highest ranking member of the opposition in the House, first, and the Senate, secondarily.”

8) “Current presidential term limits will remain in place. Service in the Senate shall be limited to two six year terms. Service in the House is limited to 6 two year terms.”
