The president may he leaving office in a little over a month. But that doesn’t mean he is a complete lame duck. As of Thursday he’s getting ready to veto the NDAA defense spending bill and an omnibus spending bill. There is a bipartisan majority for the defense bill that could perhaps override a veto. The omnibus bill does not share that advantage.

“I will Veto the Defense Bill, which will make China very unhappy. They love it,” President Trump said. “Must have Section 230 termination, protect our National Monuments and allow for removal of military from far away, and very unappreciative, lands. Thank you!”

Section 230, which is a liability shielding gift from the U.S. to “Big Tech” (the only companies in America that have it – corporate welfare!), is a serious threat to our National Security & Election Integrity. Our Country can never be safe & secure if we allow it to stand…..

“He does still plan to veto the NDAA. I don’t have a timeline for you on that. But he does plan to veto it,” White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Wednesday during a press briefing. On the omnibus bill, the president is also standing firm.

FNC: “A group of 14 House Republicans on Wednesday urged President Trump to veto an approximately $1.4 trillion omnibus spending bill being negotiated in Congress, describing it as an example of ‘swamp politics’ in Washington D.C. The letter, signed by 14 Republicans, including Reps. Andy Biggs of Arizona and Chip Roy of Texas, describes the measure as a ‘massive take-it-or-leave-it bill, negotiated behind closed doors, that expands government, spends at record levels well above 2011 base cap levels, and funds unnecessary or even harmful federal programs.’ ”

The letter asks the president to recall his words in 2018 after signing another omnibus bill. “I will never sign another bill like this again. I’m not going to do it again. Nobody read it. It’s only hours old. Some people don’t even know what is in — $1.3 trillion — it’s the second-largest ever.”

The GOP members of Congress who wrote the letter to the president said, “This bill promises to be even larger, exemplifying everything that is wrong with the swamp politics of Washington, D.C.”

While the military posts renaming is culturally odious, the rest of the NDAA bill is sufficient. It should be signed. Section 230 should be addressed in another bill. The president is right to hang tough on the omnibus bill. It is just a Democrat giveaway program.
