It must have been a slow news day at Hannity. Or perhaps somebody canceled and Nunes was called in by the booker at the last minute and thus didn’t have time to prepare. It showed. His rhetoric was predictable and clichéd and he mostly came across as a petulant hack. Which, when talking about AOC, is a difficult feat, as she provides such great ammo. But no, Nunes retreated into banalities. Not his most shining moment.

FNC: “Rep. Devin Nunes, R-CA, told ‘Hannity’ Thursday night that ‘socialist revolutionaries’ like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ‘are doing their best to continue their pitch to the American public that Republicans are somehow evil.’ ” Nunes further went on to reveal that the sun will rise in the east and that puppies are cute.

“Ocasio-Cortez benefits from a willing media to deliver her message, ” said Nunes. He was referencing Ocasio-Cortez’s response to Ted Cruz, who agreed with her about the Robinhood app.

AOC responded to Cruz, “Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed. In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign. While you conveniently talk about ‘moving on,’ a second Capitol police officer lost their life yesterday in the still-raging aftermath of the attacks you had a role in. This isn’t a joke. We need accountability, and that includes a new Senator from Texas.”

But she said Wednesday night on MSNBC, “There are legitimate white supremacist sympathizers that sit at the heart and at the core of the Republican caucus in the House of Representatives.” So, given the beginning of the first statement, she’s “happy” to work with white supremacists? This was an easy tee up because AOC is, well, likely clinically disturbed. Nunes ignored it.

Nunes further told Sean Hannity, “the legacy mainstream media will continue to repeat it and it will become the truth out there in the ‘hinterlands’ of Manhattan.” Really, NY media is leftist? No, are you sure Devin?

In another toothless response, Rep. Chip Roy, R-TX, sent House Speaker Nancy Pelosi a letter calling on Ocasio-Cortez to apologize for the tweet, or we “will be forced to find alternative means to condemn this regrettable statement.” You don’t have the numbers in the House to do jack. So why threaten to? Both Nunes and Roy should stop talking about AOC, as the rhetorical proximity is starting to seep into their thinking.
