FNC: “Enrique Tarrio, the leader of the far-right Proud Boys group, was an informer for federal and local law enforcement, helping them prosecute more than a dozen people in cases that involved drugs, gambling, and human smuggling, according to a Tuesday report. The information was revealed by a former prosecutor and a transcript of a 2014 federal court proceeding obtained exclusively by Reuters. Vanessa Singh Johannes, the former federal prosecutor in Tarrio’s case, contradicted his claim of denial saying that Tarrio ‘cooperated with local and federal law enforcement, to aid in the prosecution of those running other, separate criminal enterprises, ranging from running marijuana grow houses in Miami to operating pharmaceutical fraud schemes.’ ”

So while planning and leading various  operations his old federal buddies may not have been amused by, he was the entire time, unbeknownst to his new buddies, a man with a record as a “prolific” informer for law enforcement. And given that the feds have rounded up in recent days several Proud Boys and others who were at the assault on the Capitol, it’s not like Tarrio may have been talking to his old law enforcement pals again. Oh no, especially not with current charges hanging over him. Definitely not, perish the very thought.

It also must be a blow to the Proud Boys and their membership that not only was their leader a veteran snitch, but to snitch you need inside information. Which means, according to the feds, Tarrio was on the inside of schemes involving drugs, pharmaceutical fraud, and human smuggling. For all the paranoia on the loony Right about secret pedophile human smuggling, a leader of their vanguard was involved in it so much so he had valuable information that law enforcement could use.

Tarrio joins Sidney Powell, Lin Wood, and others as people on the loony Right who were in it for their own profit. For the first two it was publicity pure and simple. For Tarrio it was likely the opportunity to gather more information for his past masters. Will this be a wakeup call for the loony Right? No. But it sure as hell amuses the rest of us.
