Instead of the government coming to the aid of Americans in a time of need, it is fellow citizens who are stepping up and making the real sacrifices. Since COVID-19 was first announced, one key sport’s figure has stood above the rest when it comes to helping out the people who matter most, and that man is Dave Portnoy. Known as the founder of Barstool Sports, Portnoy has become a sort of activist as he helps the poor and stands up for average joes all around the country.

After both Robinhood and TD Ameritrade decided to halt trading on key stocks like GameStop and AMC Entertainment, Portnoy stood up, calling their actions not only greedy but illegal. Both trading apps stopped access to certain stocks to help already hemorrhaging hedge funds as the stocks started to climb to outrageous numbers. But as Portnoy and many other Americans see it, it’s their right to win occasionally. In the video below, find out what Portnoy had to say on the matter and what he believes should happen next.

In his interview with Tucker Carlson, Portnoy said, “I’ve been trading heavily since quarantine started and I was shocked by this. I personally did invest in AMC and Nokia. Those are two of the stocks that the Reddit guys and the Wall Street Bets guys were pushing. I believed in the power of the Internet.”

“When I saw what Robinhood was doing — ironically Robin Hood took from the rich and gave to the poor even though they do the exact opposite — I was stunned,” Portnoy said. “I think it’s criminal. I think there has to be an investigation. I think people have to go to jail.”

But again, it isn’t just Portnoy who is upset. Donald Trump Jr. and AOC are surprisingly on the same page when it comes to the corporate interference in the stock market. Portnoy even added, “Like, in 20 years of me doing Barstool, it’s the most shocked I’ve been … When you have AOC and Donald Trump Jr. both on the same side of an issue, you know something is dramatically wrong.”
