Even before the Democrats controlled all of Washington, both cancel and woke culture were already trying to solidify themselves into mainstream America. While the Republicans were able to keep rational thinking at the forefront, now that Biden is President – it appears that woke culture is free to spread and manipulate as it wishes. Most recently, a Utah school had to cancel its fairness reading program after a “woke” teacher decided to read third graders a children’s book about a transgender boy.

The book in question is called “Call Me Max” and follows a boy as he wrestles with his identity and finally comes out to his friends and family. The Salt Lake Tribune first broke the story printing, “The uproar started when a student at Horizon Elementary brought a copy of ‘Call Me Max’ from home and asked the teacher to read it aloud during storytime. The book is an illustrated account of a young transgender boy who educates his own teacher and classmates about his identity.”

Murray School District spokesperson, Doug Perry, believes that the reading of the book wasn’t just a mistake but, “was not appropriate at the grade level it was being shared.” Dozens of parents agreed with Perry and were visibly upset that their children were being taught about such a highly controversial issue at such a young age.

Following the backlash from parents, the school decided to suspend their reading program until all their curriculum could be reviewed by staff. As you may have already guessed, the woke author behind the book was appalled that the program was being suspended since his book wasn’t even part or of the program.

Author Kyle Lukoff believes it was a targeted move to cancel the entire program since it was only Call Me Max that prompted several children to start asking questions about gender identity and puberty. He tweeted, “It’s also always upsetting when people treat transgender children and their friends as problems and controversies, rather than kids who deserve love, support, and understanding.”

Although the author and woke culture want an open discussion about transgender identity in the third grade, the school district is luckily not having it. With the program on hold, the district says it will review all works of literature to make sure all content is appropriate for the ages of its students.
