Unlike the Democrats, whose top talent consists of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the Republicans are having a hard time picking the right candidate to lead them in the 2024 Presidential election. From the Southern Border crisis to COVID-19, the GOP has tackled problems the left rather not even admit exists. And thanks to their leadership, names like Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott have risen to the top of potential candidates. And who could forget the man himself, former President Donald Trump?

Over the weekend, Texas played host to the Conservative Political Action Conference, also known as CPAC. While the conference holds speeches from top GOP members, attendees were more interested in who would win the anonymous straw poll each CPAC holds. This poll is just a glimpse into who conservatives are leaning towards when it comes to the 2024 election. And although DeSantis is a top contender, it appears voters aren’t done with MAGA as CPAC announced on Sunday that Trump had won.

For months, Trump has toyed with voters and reporters on whether he would be seeking another term in the White House. As per Trump, he hinted here and there but never really gave a straight answer. Well, no matter what he is planning, the voters made it clear that they want Trump back in the White House.

Capturing 70% of the ballots cast, there was no debating the future of the GOP. Just a few months ago, the CPAC in Orlando held the same poll where again Trump won, but only with 55%, leaving plenty of room for DeSantis or other potential candidates to catch up. But whatever dreams they had, the recent poll proves while the GOP has great leadership, there is only one Donald Trump.

Addressing the voters shortly after the poll, Trump shared his love for not just the country but for the people who call it home. “I want to personally thank each and every one of you for your incredible support.”

As mentioned above, no other candidate came close to the numbers Trump received. Taking second place was Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who, unlike Cuomo, tackled the COVID-19 pandemic and won. Still, DeSantis only received 21% of the votes, and that is for second place. While beaming with talent, the GOP can’t ignore the power of Trump.
