It is official, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is set to resign. The once Democrat superstar quickly spiraled downward when it was revealed that he not only covered up COVID-19 case numbers to make himself look good, but he apparently sexually harassed close to a dozen women in his time as governor. With Cuomo stepping down in 14 days, New York Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul will take over his role until the 2022 midterm elections. But while Cuomo’s reign of power might be ending, it appears he isn’t necessarily sorry for what he did as he recently suggested it was within his culture as an “Italian” to be physical with people.

During Cuomo’s announcement on Tuesday, he had a rather peculiar way of admitting his wrongdoing. “I do hug and kiss people casually, women and men. I have done it all my life. It’s who I’ve been since I can remember. In my mind, I’ve never crossed the line with anyone, but I didn’t realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn. There are generational and cultural shifts that I just didn’t fully appreciate, and I should have.”

If the failed governor was hoping his explanation would earn him some sympathy points, he was sadly mistaken as Italian Americans quickly took to Twitter to explain that Cuomo is nothing more than a predator.

One user commented, “Cuomo trying to use his Italian heritage as an excuse is disgusting. My Nonna would have beat his ass with a wooden spoon.”

Another user blatantly stated, “As an American Italian, Andrew Cuomo doesn’t represent us.”

As for the sense of family Cuomo was referring to his Italian heritage, a critic pointed out, “We Italians refuse to acknowledge Cuomo as a member of la Famiglia.”

And lastly, even Italians in other countries blasted the once-governor for what he did and how he still thinks it isn’t his fault. “Italian-Canadian, here. Cuomo should feel ashamed of dragging our heritage thru the mud to excuse his repellant behavior.”
