I met then New York Governor George Pataki at the 2000 Republican Convention in Philadelphia. Nice guy, tall. Little did I know he would be the last clean governor to hold office in the state to this point. Why? Because Pataki was a Republican and the last three goons have been Democrats.

Remember Spitzer and his hookers? He was elected after Pataki. Spitzer resigned over call girls. Then recall the blind guy? Yeah, David Paterson. He took over when Spitzer resigned. He tried to get one of his aides out of a domestic violence charge. Then our pal Andrew, soon to be bounced due to his issues with women. Not to mention his blood-soaked paws regarding the nursing home scandal.

Btw, expect some more drama from Cuomo before he leaves. He’ll then lay low for a bit, write a book, hit the lecture circuit and TV talk shows, and run for some office again within ten years. Bet on it.

FNC: “It’s been 15 years since a New York governor left office without a scandal and just as long since a Republican has held the job. Republican Gov. George Pataki, who unseated Gov. Mario Cuomo in 1995 and went on to serve three terms, left office at the end of 2006.

Pataki was succeeded by Gov. Eliot Spitzer, a former attorney general, who resigned after just two years following a scandal involving a high-priced prostitution ring.

His replacement, former Lt. Gov. David Paterson, did not resign; however, he called off his campaign for a full term in office in 2010 amid allegations that his administration improperly intervened after a woman accused one of his close aides of domestic violence.”

What is it about New York? Easy peasy. For some time it’s been a one party state. You know, like Soviet Russia was. Democrats have big majorities in both houses of the state legislature and we’ve seen the gubernatorial track record.

One party states run by corrupt bully boys, you know-like Cuba, have no one telling them no. Only they hold the aegis. Combine that with a press who thinks and acts like the media arm of the state Democrat party and you can see the problem: political inbreeding.

Like the Hapsburg chin, New York Democrats fall victim to the same scandals (sex and abuse of power) because they are essentially the same people who believe the same things and who came up under the same system. Most people are not keen to marry their first cousin. Politically, New York Democrats do it every election cycle.
