While the Democrats continue to debate mask mandates and vaccine requirements, the American people are still trying to pick up the pieces of being thrown into another recession. With the lockdowns, many Americans were forced to either work from home or lose their jobs. For others, there was no other option as employers, unfortunately, had to cut staff to stay afloat. But while Americans were struggling, Democrat Representative, Rashida Tlaib, co-sponsored a bill that would cancel rent payments for many families. The only problem, apparently Tlaib sponsored the bill while collecting thousands of dollars as a landlord.

Thanks to Tlaib’s 2020 financial report released on Friday, voters were quick to see that the lawmaker wasn’t necessarily fighting for the people as she profited anywhere between $15,000 and $50,000 from her property in Detroit. And according to other financial records, she also received the same amount in 2019. 

Although Tlaib was making more than some make in a year, she still tweeted in December, fighting for rent payments to be canceled. “Always tons of agreement for tools of war and destroying families abroad, but never this much enthusiasm for protecting American families at home from landlords and bill collectors in the midst of a pandemic.”

And for those wondering, the Democrat doesn’t just rely on her rental properties as she also makes $174,000 a year as a representative. Even with her income secure, the lawmaker went on to sponsor the bill, which was authored by Representative Ilhan Omar, that would “institute a nationwide cancellation of rents and home mortgage payments through the duration of the coronavirus pandemic.”

Unaware that voters would see her financials, Tlaib continued to press for canceled rent payment. In March, she declared, “It’s really important that we understand that moratoriums are good, but they’re going to end and without payment and debt cancelation we are kicking the crisis down the road.”

Wanting to know if Tlaib offered her tenants the opportunity not to pay rent, Fox News reached out to her office for comment. And as you might have guessed, they have yet to respond.
