With little resistance, the Taliban overtook Afghanistan in what seemed like a matter of days. Videos of people fleeing for their lives have circulated all over the weekend. And while it appears to be utter chaos, one person is missing – President Joe Biden. Since the news broke, Biden escaped to Camp David where he has yet to take a press conference. And with Americans wanting answers, it appears Nancy Pelosi tried to spin the chaos, but Republicans were quick to call her bluff.

Trying to put the blame back on the Taliban, who don’t care, Pelosi said, “The President is to be commended for the clarity of purpose of his statement on Afghanistan and his action. The Taliban must know the world is watching its actions. We are concerned about reports regarding the Taliban’s brutal treatment of all Afghans, especially women and girls.”

It wasn’t until Saturday that President Biden, who again is on vacation at Camp David, released a statement blaming the current situation on former President Donald Trump. This isn’t the first time that Biden has tried to put the blame on Trump. But this time – Republicans are pushing back. 

Representative Kevin McCarthy blasted the President, saying “Joe Biden has been commander-in-chief for seven months – the current failure in Afghanistan falls squarely on his shoulders. His lack of leadership during this pivotal moment has been shameful – it has only served to embolden our adversaries and let down our allies.”

Even former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie took aim at Biden and the reason he is hiding. “No wonder he is hiding at Camp David. No teleprompter can give him the answers to the questions he would be asked today. What a disaster.”

One of the GOP’s top members, Senator Lindsey Graham, was sure to point out what the future holds for Afghanistan.”It is only a matter of time until al-Qaeda reemerges in Afghanistan and presents a threat to the American homeland and western world. President Biden seems oblivious to the terrorist threats that will come from a Taliban-run Afghanistan.”

And lastly, Senator Marco Rubio, who once sought the presidential nomination, put the blame where it belongs. “When the Biden Administration announced their Afghanistan pullout plan, several of us on the Intel Committee told them their predictions of what would happen next were complete fantasy. We are now witnessing how true our warnings to them were.”
