The lights are starting to dim for the once presidential hopeful Andrew Cuomo. Once revered as the best Democratic Governor of New York, who fought off the COVID-19 pandemic, was revealed to be nothing more than a con man and sexual predator. Only after receiving an Emmy award, book deal, and high praise from the Democratic Party did numerous victims come forward to show the real man behind Andrew Cuomo. Leading him to resign, Cuomo is apparently ditching his old life, which sadly includes abandoning his once prized dog.

Having to move out of the Executive Mansion, reports started to circulate on Monday that Cuomo was asking staffers if they wanted to adopt his dog – Captain, a shepherd, Siberian Husky, and Malamute mix. According to the reports, after several of the staffers passed on the dog, Cuomo moved out of the mansion and just left the dog behind.

While still just a rumor, it should be noted that Cuomo sexually harassing women and covering up COVID-19 case numbers also started out just as rumors. Either way, Richard Azzopardi, a spokesperson for Cuomo, blasted the idea that the disgraced governor would leave the dog.

Azzopardi said, “Captain is part of the governor’s family and for your nameless ill-informed source to imply they’ve been trying to give him away is untrue. Someone offered to watch him for a few days while the transition was ongoing but for that to be weaponized and morph from a game of telephone into the pages of your paper is absurd — now excuse us we’re preparing for a major storm.”

It should be noted that the New York Post also reported on the story that the head of the New York State Animal Protection Federation, Libby Post, urged Cuomo to adopt his dog out of one of their many shelters. They were rejected.

As for what the future holds for Captain, Libby Post was sure to say that no matter what history the dog might have, “The New York State Animal Protection Federation is ready to help place Captain at one of our larger New York State animal shelters, such as the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands, just north of Albany. Shelters like Mohawk Hudson, Lollypop Farm in Rochester, and the SPCA Serving Erie County have excellent behavioral experts who can help Captain resolve his ‘nipping’ issues and adopt him into a loving, forever home. New York State loves companion animals. Captain deserves better. He will be welcomed with open arms (and paws) into one of our shelters.”
