Unlike President Joe Biden, who was caught checking his watch while the remains of 13 U.S. service members were brought home, former President Donald Trump always finds a moment to honor the men and women who put their lives on the line in the name of freedom. Recently, Trump held a rally in Perry, Georgia where over 20,000 people were in attendance. Among the crowd was not only a Marine who had served in Kabul, Afghanistan but he was also the man who famously pulled the child over the barricade during the evacuation. While the video went viral, and Trump honored him on stage, apparently the Marine is now being investigated for attending the rally.

According to news outlets, Lance Cpl. Hunter Clark is being investigated by his military unit as to whether he violated the military’s restriction on any active-duty troops from engaging in political activities. The Department of Defense says, “Active duty personnel may not engage in partisan political activities and all military personnel should avoid the inference that their political activities imply or appear to imply DoD sponsorship, approval, or endorsement of a political candidate, campaign, or cause.”

Releasing a statement on the matter, Captain Kelton J. Cochran, a spokesman for the 24th MEU, Clark’s unit, said, “The 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) has initiated a command investigation regarding LCpl Hunter Clark’s attendance at the event last weekend to determine if any DoD policies were violated. Any details pertaining to this incident are not releasable while the investigation is being conducted.”

As for the rally, Clark wasn’t attending the event as a speaker. It was Trump who pointed him out. “We’re also honored to be joined by one of the Marines who bravely served in Kabul during the withdrawal and helped evacuate children over the airport and over the airport wall. You saw him, he did a great job, Lance Corporal Hunter Ian Clark. Lance Corporal get up here.”

Not wanting to let the former President down, Clark joined Trump on stage, but again – didn’t throw his support behind him. All Clark said was, “Hey, my name is Lance Corporal Hunter Clark, and I’m here from Warner Robins, Georgia. I am the guy that pulled the baby over the wall, and it’s definitely probably one of the greatest things I’ve done in my entire life. I just want to thank all the support from all y’all. It really means a lot and I’m glad to be home now.”

But even though Clark should be treated as a hero, the Department of Defense will settle with vilifying him.
