While Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers told reporters that he was “immunized” back in August, the 37-year-old NFL star will be forced to miss this Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs due to him testing positive for COVID-19. Having to be quarantined for at least 10 days, according to the league protocols, Rodgers will be able to play again once he tests negative. But although many people, including White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, have tested positive while being vaccinated, Rodgers is receiving a fair amount of backlash for his decision.

At the time of the press conference where Rodgers admitted to being immunized, he claimed that the COVID-19 vaccine should be a personal decision. He also remains to be one of the numerous players refusing to get the vaccine.

ProFootballTalk blasted the quarterback for suggesting to reporters that he was vaccinated. “Aaron Rodgers could try to mince words by saying he was “immunized” — if he hadn’t said in the next breath that he won’t judge teammates who aren’t vaccinated. He created the clear impression that he’s vaccinated. Aaron Rodgers despises criticism so much that he actually lied about being vaccinated so that he wouldn’t be criticized for being unvaccinated. Think about that for a second.”

Not stopping there, ProFootballTalk added, “Aaron Rodgers is not vaccinated. In August, he created the clear impression that he is. Throughout the preseason, he repeatedly violated protocol by not wearing a mask on the sidelines when not in uniform, presumably to bolster his ruse.”

One user said, “Aaron Rodgers purposely misled people about his vaccination status. I respect loudly unvaccinated people like Cole Beasley more than I respect Rodgers, who has interacted with people who thought he was vaccinated while not wearing a mask.”
