In a shocking announcement, the Manhattan district attorney’s office revealed that although it was disgraced Governor Andrew Cuomo who ordered COVID-19 patients to be sent to nursing homes, no charges were being brought against him and the case has been closed.

Making a statement on Monday, Defense attorney Elkan Abramowitz said, “I was told that after a thorough investigation — as we have said all along — there was no evidence to suggest that any laws were broken.”

As mentioned above, it was former Governor Cuomo who would put the order in place that saw nursing homes act as hospitals for COVID-19 patients. Following his order, over ten thousand nursing home patients died from COVID-19. The initial order was given in March of 2020 and wouldn’t be rescinded until a few months later in May.

What makes the announcement of no charges being brought against Cuomo even more interesting is the fact that he tried to cover up the deaths to make his own administration appear competent. In February of 2020, Cuomo stated, “COVID did not get into the nursing homes by people coming from hospitals. COVID got into the nursing homes by staff walking into the nursing home when they didn’t know they had COVID.”

After trying to convince America he wasn’t behind the cover up, a top aide to Cuomo admitted that the administration hid the information after then-President Donald Trump accused them of being behind the deaths.

And although just one person’s admission, in April 2021 the New York Times would drop a bombshell article outline how the Cuomo administration covered up the deaths. In August, Cuomo would end up resigning due to the scandal and a string of sexual harassment and assualt claims made against him. But remember, Cuomo was once a top player in the Democratic party with an eye on the White House.
