WAUWATOSA, WI – The Wisconsin-based seasoning and spice company Penzeys Spices recently sent out a mass-email to their customer base, and also shared it on Facebook, detailing a new promotion for their products where they declared that all “Republicans are racists” – and further proclaimed that the BLM riots were “peaceful protests.”

The January 14th posting to Facebook bore a graphic proudly declaring “Republicans are racists” and invited would-be customers to “cheese off racists for free” with an ongoing promotion for their products, while also directing social media users to “read the email everyone is talking about” where they attempt to justify their position on Republicans being racist.

At the onset of the linked email, it becomes painfully obvious what direction Penzeys Spices is taking to justify this frankly stupid position regarding Republicans.

It begins with citing how Penzeys Spices proclaims, “Black Lives Matter started to have some success getting all of America to see how unfairly Black Americans are treated in this country,” and that in response “Republicans did all they could to derail that success by trying to drown out BLM’s message with shouts of all lives matter, and blue lives matter, and lying about the leaders of BLM being Marxists and Communists?”

The gaslighting is already in play with Penzeys Spices’ email alleging that Republicans were “lying about the leaders of BLM being Marxists and Communists” – as Patrisse Cullors, one of the original founders of BLM Global Network, has described herself as a “trained Marxist” and has previously instructed BLM followers to study “Marxist theory.”

From there, the email tries to rewrite history as though the summer of 2020 is some kind of distant memory, claiming that after the death of George Floyd “Black Lives Matter stepped in and redirected that anger into peaceful protests that millions of Americans from across all walks of life participated in, amassing a hundred million human-hours of peaceful protest.”

The BLM riots from 2020 were hardly “peaceful,” and even left-leaning news outlet Axios estimated the damage caused via the riots by September of 2020 resulted in over $1 billion in damage. A Fox News report from April of 2021 estimated the total damages caused by the BLM riots as being “nearly $2 billion” – while said riots also resulting in at least 18 deaths.

In spite of all this openly available information, Penzeys Spices claimed that it was Republicans who ignored “a mountain of evidence to the contrary” and then framed increases in gun sales during the periods of rioting throughout the country as serving as a chance for Republicans to “get their chance to shoot a Black person.”

“Remember how Republicans, going against a mountain of evidence to the contrary, once again lied and said BLM wasn’t a peaceful movement but instead terrorists inciting violence throughout the country and then raced out to buy a crapload of guns because maybe they were finally going to get their chance to shoot a Black person? What a bunch of racists,” the email proclaimed.

While there were certainly reports of increased background checks for firearm purchases in 2020 – those increase in purchases coincided with the onset of the pandemic, as record sales started cropping up in April of 2020 – nearly two months before the BLM riots kicked off. Panzeys Spices is literally making up narratives.

The person who drafted this email is of course the owner of the company, Bill Penzey Jr., who has been screaming about Donald Trump and sending out this sort of nonsense since November of 2016 following Trump’s election.

Thus, Bill Penzey continued his latest diatribe drafted earlier in January by proclaiming that he doesn’t “care what your race is or how many of your friends ‘happen to be’ whatever” because Penzey thinks every Republican are part of a party that supports “open ‘textbook’ racism.”

Bill Penzey closes out the email by telling Republicans that “the Racist label is one you will deservingly wear every day” and that Republicans should “Get used to it, or maybe instead, become a better person” while also telling Democrat customers to knock “on every door possible before 11.8.22 to turn out every last vote to save our democracy.”
