A survey published by McLaughlin & Associates this week shows former President Donald Trump beating President Joe Biden in a hypothetical 2024 presidential election.

The respondents were asked, “If the 2024 Presidential election were held today, which of the following best describes how you would vote in the general election for President between Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, and Joe Biden, the Democrat candidate, for whom would you vote?”

49 percent of respondents say they would vote for Trump, while only 44 percent said Biden. 37 percent of Trump supporters said they would “definitely” support Trump, while only 35 percent of Biden supporters would “definitely” support their candidate. Notably, 7 percent of those surveyed say they are undecided. This is larger than Trump’s hypothetical 5 point lead.

Trump’s lead jumps significantly in a hypothetical match-up with either Kamala Harris or Hillary Clinton.

Trump leads Harris in a hypothetical 2024 election 51 percent to 40 percent, and Trump beats Hillary Clinton, 51 percent to 41 percent.
