After the disaster in Afghanistan, the Southern Border crisis, COVID-19 mandates, and record high inflation, President Joe Biden will give his first State of the Union Address on Tuesday, March 1. With America already facing numerous issues and the Democrats calling for a “reset” on the Biden administration, Americans are eager to see what Biden will have to say about the war between Russia and Ukraine. But before Biden even got a chance to speak, a new poll was released showing that the President currently sits at a dismal 37% approval.

The poll, conducted by the Washington Post and ABC News found that only 37% of Americans believed that President Biden was leading America in the right direction. At the same time, a staggering 55% disapproved of his leadership. Another 44% said they “strongly disapproved”. Looking at the percentages pertaining to the parties, 77% of Democrats approved of Biden while 86% of Republicans disapproved.

On top of the Ukraine invasion and Biden’s dismal approval ratings, the Capitol Police have reinstalled the security fencing around the Capitol building ahead of his speech. With the Freedom Convoy barreling through Canada, there have been reports of a convoy of truckers making their way to the Capitol ahead of Biden’s State of The Union Address.

With tension around the COVID-19 mandates already boiling over, President Biden has been somewhat of a recluse recently. While Russia invades Ukraine, Biden was spotted vacationing at his private residence in Delaware.

Although the fencing was reinstalled for security reasons, Eleanor Holmes Norton, a nonvoting delegate in Congress, noted,  “I understand the security concerns related to the trucker convoy and the State of the Union address that led to the fencing being temporarily reinstalled around the Capitol. However, I will ensure that the fencing comes down as soon as possible to restore freedom of movement for District of Columbia residents and the general public.”
