The Iranians are testing us. They want to see if we are distracted enough by the Ukrainian situation to stand by and take missile hits while not responding. They wonder if the populist mouthpieces for the Putin regime on the American pitchfork Right, who follow the Moscow propaganda line, can make enough political hay to hamper the legitimate pursuit and defense of American international interests.

These Moscow fellow travelers were once almost solely on the Left. The Ukrainian War has sadly seen their emergence on the Right. Their wacky conspiracy theories have made such a tangle of their synapses that to these mudsill populist wing nuts Putin is the innocent victim of American and Ukrainian aggression. It is a blessing to America and the world that they are not in power in any free nation here or abroad.

No injuries were reported in Sunday’s attack on the city of Irbil, which marked a significant escalation between the U.S. and Iran. Hostility between the longtime foes has often played out in Iraq, whose government is allied with both countries.

Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard said on its website that it attacked what it described as an Israeli spy center in Irbil. It did not elaborate, but in a statement said Israel had been on the offensive, citing the recent strike that killed two members of the Revolutionary Guard. The semi-official Tasnim news agency quoted an unnamed source as saying Iran fired 10 Fateh missiles, including several Fateh-110 missiles, which have a range of about 300 kilometers (186 miles).”
