Signing the HB 1557 Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act into law on Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has garnered intense backlash for supporting what the left has labeled the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Although the bill does not ban the word “gay” from being used in a classroom setting, it does restrict gender identity and sexual orientation from being used in a classroom setting from kindergarten to third grade. While the bill has gained massive support, actor Ron Perlman recently jumped on Twitter to give his thoughts by bashing Republican Governor DeSantis and proving he hasn’t really read the bill.

In the video below, Perlman stated, “Good morning, Governor DeSantis. Ron here. Um, don’t say gay? Don’t say… as the first two words of a sentence spoken by a political leader of a state in the United States of America? Don’t say gay? Don’t f***ing say gay you f***ing Nazi pig? Say. First Amendment. Read about it. Then run for office. You piece of s***.”

Before getting into the comments, it should be noted this isn’t Perlman’s first tirade on Twitter. Just last week, the actor bashed Senator Ted Cruz for questioning Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson. He said, “Hi Ted, Ron here. Listen, I know how tempting it is to appeal to the real lowest form of humanity here in the United States, the bottom feeders, people who pride themselves on hatred and uneducation and inability to read and inability to understand the difference between true patriotism and the bulls*** you’re selling. I know how tempting it is to play to those people. Because at least you have a base, but Jesus Christ Ted, for somebody with a really, really small d***, you get to be a bigger prick every f***ing day. Go f*** yourself.”

Being incredible passionate about the Supreme Court and the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, it appeared Perlman hasn’t read it. And people were quick to notice. One person wrote, “Dear Mr. Perlman, Two comments: 1) please read the bill and hopefully this will assuage your concerns; 2) please reacquaint yourself with the notion of civility.  You can make your points without the curse words.  Cheers. [I’ll retweet as well.]”

For those who might be wondering, the bill states, “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade three or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”
