President Joe Biden might be known for fumbling his words, forgetting who the President is, and not knowing exactly what to do next, but on top of his blunders, the famous Amtrak Joe has been caught numerous times bending the truth to his liking. Although he has been in the White House for little over a year, here are just a few of the common lies he tells while speaking to the American people. 

Let’s start with what is considered to be Biden’s first disaster, the war in Afghanistan. While Biden was in charge of America pulling out troops, which led to U.S. Service members being killed, he stated that he had been against the war from the beginning. He said, “I’ve been against that war in Afghanistan from the very beginning. We’re spending $300 million a week in Afghanistan over 20 years.”

It should be noted that in 2001, after the 9/11 attacks, Biden voted in support of the Authorization for Use of Military Force bill.

That is just one example though. Another time Biden decided to bend the truth was when he was giving a speech in Georgia about voting rights. The President again lied by claiming he had been arrested for protesting during the Civil Rights movement. “I did not walk in the shoes of generations of students who walked these grounds. But I walked other grounds. Because I’m so damn old, I was there as well. You think I’m kidding, man. It seems like yesterday the first time I got arrested.”

Politifact dug into the claim more and found, “We reached out to the White House to clarify what arrest he was referring to, and they pointed to excerpts from three speeches Biden has made in recent years. They addressed an incident in Delaware in the 1950s in which people gathered to protest the sale of a home to a Black couple.” The report added, “Police were called to the home as hundreds of people protested outside. There were a few arrests, but no evidence that Biden was among them.”

One of his most recent mishaps came on none other than April Fool’s Day when Biden suggested, “Our policies are working. And we’re getting results for the American people — which is what it’s all about, to state the obvious. Record job creation. Record unemployment declines. Record wage gains.”

Again, the New York Post found, “Nothing could be further from the truth. Nominal wage gains since Biden took office have been wiped out by sky-high inflation, now around 8%. All jobs now come with a built-in pay cut that’s only going to get worse unless the prez changes course. Worse, employment will crater if he gets the tax hikes he proposes. And he and his administration have not created a single job.”

Remember, this is just a few of Biden’s claims in just the last 16 months.
