Although many Democrats are worried about keeping what little power they still have in D.C., it appears House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is setting her eyes on expanding the reach of the Democratic party. While Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has battled COVID-19, CRT, and the woke mob, Pelosi not only claimed that the state deserved better leadership, but she also threw her support behind Charlie Crist in the upcoming 2022 gubernatorial race.

Releasing a video, which can be watched below, the House Speaker said, “He’ll be a champion for women’s reproductive rights, create opportunities for small business owners, and always show empathy and compassion for our working families. It’s a stark contrast to the current governor. Florida, you deserve better.”

While giving her endorsement to Crist, it should be noted that he was not always a Democrat. In 2006, he won the Florida governor’s race running as a Republican. In 2017, he would change, serving as a Democrat in the House of Representatives. In 2014, Crist would run for Florida Governor once again, this time as a Democrat against Rick Scott. He ultimately lost.

As for his thoughts of Pelosi, Crist declared, “Speaker Pelosi is a beacon of Democratic values, and her leadership uplifts the voices of all Floridians that are ready to put divisive, inflammatory rhetoric behind us and truly get to work for the people.”

Crist also took a jab at DeSantis, stating that if he won, he would veto legislation aimed at abortions. “Free State of Florida? Not when you’re banning a women’s right to choose, Ron. As Governor, I’ll veto any effort to restrict a woman’s right to control her own body.”

Just last week, Governor DeSantis banned abortions taking place if the baby is older than 15 weeks. This stance caused Crist to tweet, “Women should make decisions about their own bodies, not governors. I’d veto this bill and any attempt to restrict the right to choose. Full stop.”

Looking at the polls, A Saint Leo University Polling Institute found, 49.2% of voters in Florida side with DeSantis as only 32.8% said they would back Crist. With a 17 point lead, it seems Crist’s run might end before it even starts.
