There is no denying that President Joe Biden has had a rather difficult time in White House. During just his first year as POTUS, Biden had numerous blunders from slurring his words, forgetting who exactly the president was, to even falling while trying to board Air Force One. But through all the mishaps, dismal polls, and current dilemmas facing the Biden administration, nothing has deterred the President from eyeing another run in 2024.

On Tuesday, the Hill reported that two sources close to the President admitted that Biden has told none other than former President Barack Obama that he was running for a second term. One source said, “I believe he thinks he’s the only one who can beat Trump. I don’t think he thinks there’s anyone in the Democratic party who can beat Trump and that’s the biggest factor.”

This isn’t the first time President Biden has hinted at his possibility of running for a second term. He told ABC’s David Muir, “Sure. Why would I not run against Donald Trump if he were the nominee. That would increase the prospect of running.”

Looking at the polls, a Quinnipiac University showed “that Biden’s approval had sunk to a new low of 38% overall, with 53% disapproval.” At the same time, when it came to the economy, “just 35% of voters approved of Biden’s handling of the economy, while 60% disapproved.” As for the current situation between Russia and Ukraine, another 49% disapproved with how President Biden is handling it.

While the 2024 election is still two years away, the speculation around who will seek to be the next President is already starting to heat up. Not only are sources claiming Biden will run again in 2024, but on the other side of the aisle, many have wondered if former President Donald Trump will eye a second term. Although Trump beat Hillary Clinton back in 2016, according to Biden, running against Trump again would be easy.

During a news conference in Brussels, President Biden suggested, “The next election, I’d be very fortunate if I had that same man running against me.”
