Carter is played by Elle Fanning, Conrad Roy is played by Colton Ryan, and Lynn Roy, Conrad’s mother, is played by Chloe Sevigny in the Hulu series “The Girl From Plainville.”
Carter made news in 2014 and 2015 after a Massachusetts judge decided that her remarks (through texting and phone calls) forced Roy, then 18, to commit himself. She was sentenced to 15 months in prison, which she served from February 2019 to January 2020 — due to excellent behavior, she was released three months early.

Carter and Roy’s story was also featured in the 2019 HBO documentary “I Love You, Now Die: The Commonwealth Vs. Michelle Carter,” in addition to “The Girl From Plainville.”
Carter has kept a low profile since her imprisonment, although she was recently seen outside her home doing yard work.

“It was difficult to stay in that mindset for five months [while filming].” “It was tough stuff,” Sevigny, 47, told The Washington Post. “But, within the show and offscreen, we’d attempt to find moments of levity,” she remarked.
“The Girl from Plainville” is now available to watch on Hulu, with new episodes released every Thursday.
