While the Democrats and Biden administration continue to fight COVID-19, inflation, the Southern border crisis, and soaring gas prices, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk added another growing problem to that list on Monday – China. Being considered the richest man in the world, Musk warned listeners of the “All In” podcast that China could become a major threat to the United States. And surprisingly, it had nothing to do with weapons or nuclear arsenals, instead, it was all about economic power.

Explaining the dilemma, Musk said, “What we’re going to see with China, for the first time that anyone can remember who is alive, is an economy that is twice the size of the U.S., possibly three times the size of the U.S., and it’s going to be very weird living in that world. So, we better stop the infighting in the U.S. and stop punching ourselves in the face. There’s way too much of America punching itself in the damn face, it’s just dumb, and think about, hey, ‘We gotta be competitive here.’”

It should be noted that as of last year, the United States continues to have one of the largest economies in the world. It put out $23 trillion last year alone. When looking at China, which only boasts $17.7 trillion, there might appear to be a small gap. But at the same time, their economy has had a 10% average growth since the late 70s. Musk added, “There’s a new kid on the block that’s going to be two to three times our size. We better step up our game and stop infighting.”

Giving some ways that America’s economy could fight back, the billionaire advised, “The point of a company is to produce useful products and services for your fellow human beings. It is not some political gathering place.”

Musk’s take on politics has been displayed on Twitter, as he criticized President Joe Biden for ignoring Tesla. After Biden’s State of the Union speech, Musk wrote, “Ford is investing $11B to build electric vehicles — creating 11,000 jobs across the country. GM is making the largest investment in its history — $7B to build electric vehicles, creating 4,000 jobs in Michigan. Tesla has created over 50,000 US jobs building electric vehicles & is investing more than double GM + Ford combined. fyi to person controlling this twitter.”
