Wanting to present themselves as young and hip for the newer generations ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, the Democrats apparently are willing to do whatever it takes to get a vote. Just take Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, for example. One week ago, she decided to upload a video of herself promoting a karaoke competition on TikTok. The video was followed with the caption, “It’s time to sing your hearts out, Chicago! Our karaoke competition is starting Sunday and will go until Nov. 6th. Now’s your time to shine.” While the Democrat promotes karaoke contests and browses TikTok, it should be noted that Chicago witnessed a 37% increase in crime when compared to 2021. Looking at last weekend alone, Chicago police responded to 26 shootings. And of those, there were a staggering 31 victims, including a 13-year-old boy.

The drastic rise in crime throughout Chicago continues to climb as over two dozen people were shot over the weekend. That doesn’t include the nine people murdered. Sadly, one of the victims who didn’t survive the weekend included a 13-year-old boy who was found on a park bench. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead after being transported to the St. Francis Hospital. But again, that was just the start.

When compiling the deaths over the weekend, they included a 17-year-old male shot multiple times. Pronounced dead at the hospital. A 60-year-old man was shot multiple times. Pronounced dead at the hospital. And an 87-year-old woman who was found dead in her senior living facility home. Her family members found her sitting in a wheelchair with trauma around her head and face. While pronounced dead at the scene, police opened an investigation and are treating it as a homicide.

Besides the drastic surge in crime and violence, Chicago is also losing business as owners and companies leave the area. Founder of the Rabine Group, Gary Rabine, said, “We would do thousands of jobs a year in the city, but as we got robbed more, my people operating rollers and pavers we got robbed, our equipment would get stolen in broad daylight, and there would usually be a gun involved, and it got expensive, and it got dangerous.”

Adding to the list, Billionaire Ken Griffin announced that his hedge-fund firm Citadel would also be leaving Chicago for a safer environment. “If people aren’t safe here, they’re not going to live here. I’ve had multiple colleagues mugged at gunpoint. I’ve had a colleague stabbed on the way to work. Countless issues of burglary. I mean, that’s a really difficult backdrop with which to draw talent to your city from.”
