During his time in the White House, former President Donald Trump enjoyed the council of Steve Bannon, the host of The War Room. He enjoyed his input so much that he became a White House advisor to Trump. But all that came to an end on election night when Joe Biden supposedly became the most-voted candidate in America’s history. Outraged, a massive crowd formed at Capitol Hill on January 6th to protest the election. What followed is considered a riot as protestors walked through the barricades and entered the Capitol. Not only blaming Trump, but the Democrat-led January 6th Committee also sought to blame Bannon for the role he might have played. Completely ignoring the committee, on Friday, Bannon was sentenced to 4 months in jail for defying the congressional subpoena.

Since the Capitol Hill riot, the Democrats have taken every opportunity to try and present the day as a terrorist attack on democracy. The Democrats easily compared it to both 9/11 and Pearl Harbor. Hoping to tarnish Trump’s legacy in D.C., the committee has constantly tried to change the narrative to suggest that Trump helped orchestrate the entire protest. In order to get the evidence they needed, they subpoenaed Steve Bannon, wanting both documents and testimony from him. But as mentioned above, Bannon simply ignored the request and continued to criticize the weaponization of the federal government.

Holding him in contempt of Congress, he was convicted back in July during a federal trial. Prosecutors moved for Bannon to get a maximum of six months in jail and a $200,000 fine. The U.S. District judge ruled that Bannon will serve 4 months in jail after the appeal process plays out and must pay a fine of $6,500.

Besides mocking the January 6th Committee, Steve Bannon’s lawyers claimed that the host couldn’t speak to the committee due to Trump’s executive privilege. Days before his trial started, Bannon said Trump waved his executive privilege, and he would talk. But it was apparently too late. Prosecutors stated, “A person could have shown no greater contempt than the Defendant did in his defiance of the Committee’s subpoena. The rioters who overran the Capitol on January 6 did not just attack a building—they assaulted the rule of law upon which this country was built and through which it endures. By flouting the Select Committee’s subpoena and its authority, the Defendant exacerbated that assault.”

Speaking outside the courthouse, Steve Bannon declared, “On November 8, they’re gonna have a judgment on the illegitimate Biden regime and quite frankly, and quite frankly, that Nancy Pelosi and the entire committee, and we know which way that’s going. Either they’ve already been turfed out, like Liz Cheney, right? Or have quit like Kinzinger and other Democrats, or they’re about to be beaten like Luria and others, or they will lose their power and becoming a minority. This is democracy. The American people are weighing and measuring what went on with the Justice Department and how they comported themselves.”
