Although two years ago, most people can remember the emotions surrounding the 2020 election. Much like now, Donald Trump paraded around the country, holding rallies in numerous states. Each rally turned away people as thousands traveled to see him speak. But with all the support and four years in the Oval Office behind him, the election swayed to Joe Biden for a result that is still being contested today. At that time, the host of The War Room, Steve Bannon, warned about the backlash that would be seen from the supposed election fraud. The very next day was January 6th. And while most conservative hosts echoed Bannon’s words, the January 6th Committee subpoenaed him, which he mockingly refused. Now, it appears that the Department of Justice has recommended a stiff sentencing for defying the committee’s wishes.

The incident originally started back in July when the January 6th Committee wanted to question Steve Bannon on comments he made before the riot. Believing the committee to be nothing more than a weapon of the Democrats and Biden administration, the host refused, which led to him being held in contempt of Congress.

In the recommendation from the Department of Justice, the agency is calling for Bannon to serve six months in jail and pay a whopping $200,000 for refusing to comply with the January 6th committee. The DOJ wrote, “to this day, the Defendant has not produced a single document to the Committee or appeared for testimony. For his sustained, bad-faith contempt of Congress, the Defendant should be sentenced to six months’ imprisonment—the top end of the Sentencing Guidelines’ range—and fined $200,000—based on his insistence on paying the maximum fine rather than cooperate with the Probation Office’s routine pre-sentencing financial investigation.”

As of now, Steve Bannon is set to be sentenced on October 21, 2022. Two members of the committee, RINO Liz Cheney and Democrat Representative Bennie G. Thompson, celebrated the conviction of the host. They even released a joint statement saying, “The conviction of Steve Bannon is a victory for the rule of law and an important affirmation of the Select Committee’s work. Just as there must be accountability for all those responsible for the events of January 6th, anyone who obstructs our investigation into these matters should face consequences.”

Users offered their opinions on the matter, writing, “I find it hard to believe that someone could be sentenced to jail for not attending an illegally formed committee. I’m sure he will appeal this, but it’s amazing the lengths these liberal half-brains will go to try to get their way.” Another one insisted, “DoJ is just another Stalinist front for the Democratic regime to get Trump. Trump never used government agencies for his own partisan political advantages or to neuter his enemies. America is in trouble.”
