On Tuesday, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson issued a stern warning that Congress has the power to defund radical leftist judges and their court rulings, which he claims are undermining the country’s legal system and attacking the administration of President Donald J. Trump.
Johnson’s remarks come amid growing concerns over what many see as a concerted effort by far-left judges to derail Trump’s second term through a relentless series of legal challenges.

Since returning to the White House on January 20, 2025, President Trump has faced an unprecedented wave of lawsuits, many of which critics claim are politically motivated and orchestrated by activist judges with a left-wing agenda.

Speaking on The War Room with Steve Bannon, Josh Hammer, Senior Counsel for the Article III Project, warned that the current state of the judiciary goes beyond judicial activism.
“What America is witnessing is not just judicial activism—it’s an outright judicial insurrection,” Hammer said.
He pointed out that the first Trump administration from 2017 to 2021 faced 65 nationwide injunctions, but the current administration has already been hit with 137 legal challenges in less than two months, with only two cases having been closed so far.

The Speaker’s comments were aimed directly at the district courts where these challenges are being filed. Johnson emphasized the need for Congress to take action against what he called “lawless” judges who are undermining the rule of law and hindering the executive branch’s ability to function.
In an interview with ABC News, Johnson laid out Congress’s authority over the federal courts.
“We do have authority over the federal courts, as you know. We can eliminate an entire district court. We have power to fund the courts and all these other things,” Johnson stated.
“But desperate times call for desperate measures, and Congress is going to act. So stay tuned for that.”

The Speaker’s remarks are a response to what many see as a growing problem of judicial overreach, particularly in cases involving President Trump’s policies and actions.
Critics argue that the surge in legal challenges, particularly from district judges who are not elected and whose decisions often have nationwide impact, is an effort to stymie the President’s agenda through non-legislative means.
Johnson’s warning is significant, as it signals that Congress is prepared to use its constitutional power to curb the influence of activist judges.

His comments also highlight the growing frustration among conservatives who believe the judicial system is being weaponized to prevent the implementation of the policies that Americans voted for in 2024.
While the Supreme Court has stepped in to block some of these challenges, many conservatives feel that the judiciary’s response has been insufficient.
The Court has yet to fully address what some are calling the “legal insurrection” against the Trump administration.
Johnson’s statement is likely to increase the pressure on Congress to take a more active role in reining in the power of federal judges.
In the broader context of the ongoing battle between the executive and judicial branches, Speaker Johnson’s comments reflect a broader struggle over the direction of the country’s legal system.
The issue of judicial overreach is becoming an increasingly important one for conservatives, especially as they look to ensure that the President’s agenda is not derailed by what they see as politically motivated legal actions.
As the situation develops, it is clear that the fight over the power of the courts is only just beginning.
With Johnson’s warning, it appears that Congress is ready to take a stand against what it sees as an unchecked and activist judiciary that is undermining the will of the American people.

First of all, you need to write several ‘stern letters’. Beyond that, I don’t think they have the spine to stand up to these marxist judges.
Just do it. These corrupt judges are probably getting their money from corrupt politicians.
quit your blabbering Mikie, just do it!
All the GOP can manage is token gestures, he’ll use this for fund raising.
Hey MIKIE.. Stop talking and do your freakin job. Defund and eliminate the courts doing guerrilla war on President Trump.
A judge who gets overruled on appeal, should face an evaluation by peer review and be fired if found policial. The loser of the case should be made to pay damages, like a billion dollars for delays in DOGE.
Then defund these courts already. Do it now.
Tired of talk.
