FBI Director Kash Patel revealed new details Thursday about the attack in Dallas that left one person dead and two others injured.
In a post on X, Patel said investigators recovered a handwritten note from the alleged sniper that described his intentions against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel.
Patel wrote: “One of the handwritten notes recovered read, ‘Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, “is there a sniper with AP [armor-piercing] rounds on that roof?”’”

The incident took place Wednesday morning at approximately 6:40 a.m. Authorities confirmed that no ICE agents were injured during the shooting.
The alleged gunman, identified as a 29-year-old male, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the attack.
One individual was killed during the incident, and two others were wounded.
Officials have not released the identities of the victims.
Breitbart News, citing reporting from the New York Post, noted that the mother of the alleged shooter had posted anti-gun commentary on social media years earlier.
Her posts came shortly after the May 24, 2022, mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
At that time, she directed criticism toward Republican officials in Texas, including Governor Greg Abbott and Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, for their opposition to gun control legislation.
In one post, she wrote: “May be you be reminded of the deaths every time you spend that precious blood money you have received from the gun lobby. Hope you think of it 100% when you attend the NRA meeting in a few days.”
The comments resurfaced as investigators continue to piece together the shooter’s background and motives.
Sen. Cornyn later shifted his position on certain firearm restrictions.
Following the Uvalde tragedy, he joined Democrats in negotiations that produced the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, signed into law by then-President Joe Biden in 2022.
Federal and local officials are continuing to review evidence recovered at the Dallas scene, including the note highlighted by Patel and other materials that suggest preparation for the attack.
The FBI has not yet disclosed whether additional suspects or accomplices are under investigation.
The timeline of events leading to the attack remains under review.
Law enforcement officials have stressed that while the note indicated ICE agents were referenced as potential targets, none were harmed in the incident.
The FBI and local police departments are coordinating to assess the credibility of the threats contained in the writings and determine whether further protective measures are necessary for federal personnel.
The shooting adds to a series of violent incidents in Texas that have raised security concerns in recent years.
The investigation remains ongoing, with officials emphasizing that more details will be made public as evidence is processed and verified.
