Vice President J.D. Vance sharply criticized Democrats during Tuesday’s White House Cabinet meeting, arguing they manufactured a nationwide “affordability crisis” that the current administration is now working to reverse, as reported by The Independent Journal Review.
Speaking before President Trump and senior officials, Vance outlined what he described as a clear contrast between household finances under former President Joe Biden and the first ten months of the Trump administration.

“It is absurd that Democrats talk about an affordability crisis that they created,” Vance said, according to Newsmax. “The people around this table work every single day to address it.”

Vance cited income changes as one of the clearest indicators of that contrast. “The most important statistic is that under the Biden administration, the average American family lost over $3,000 of household income,” he said.
“Under the first 10 months of this Trump administration, they have gained over $1,000.”
“That says very clearly that we are fixing the problem that Joe Biden and the Democrats created,” Vance added.
He argued that major affordability challenges in housing, taxes, and food prices all stemmed from decisions made during Biden’s presidency.
On housing costs, Vance said, “Why did homes get so unaffordable? Because we had 20 million illegal aliens in this country taking homes that ought, by right, to go to American citizens.”

Turning to taxes, Vance said Democrats raised rates while the current Congress has worked in the opposite direction.
“Why did tax bills get so unaffordable? Because Democrats were raising taxes, while congressional Republicans — under the president’s leadership — are now cutting taxes.”

On food prices, Vance pointed to federal spending priorities under Biden. “Why did food get so expensive? Because we printed trillions of dollars and threw it into green scams that made our agricultural economy suffer,” he said.
Despite these challenges, Vance said the administration has made “incredible progress” in reversing course but noted that full recovery will take time.
“It would be preposterous to fix every problem caused over the last four years in just 10 months,” he said. “I think we’ve done incredibly good.”
Vance closed his remarks by expressing optimism about the year ahead, predicting substantial economic gains. “What I really think this season represents for me, and I think for the entire administration, is that we have now done incredible work to fix what Joe Biden broke.”
“I think the next year in American growth and American prosperity could be the best year that we’ve had,” he said, calling the United States “the greatest country in the world.”
This was the most critical moment of today’s Cabinet Meeting.
