The woman was later identified as Helen Massiell Garay Sanchez.
“Female was located inside a walk-in freezer/cooler located in the store’s stockroom,” Miami Police Department Public Information Officer Michael Vega said.
CBS News, citing police scanner traffic, reported that Sanchez was found naked inside the freezer. Dispatch audio reportedly described the scene, with scanners stating, “Complainant found a naked female in the cooler of the store.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
Police have not announced any arrests or named any suspects. Officials also did not indicate whether the death appeared accidental or related to a medical episode, and no cause of death has been released.
According to a GoFundMe page established by friends and family, Sanchez was an anesthesiologist who specialized in congenital heart disease.
The page states that she was originally from Nicaragua and that her two children currently live there.
“Dr. Helen Garay passed away following a tragic accident while abroad,” the GoFundMe page said.
“Her family’s greatest wish is to bring her back to Nicaragua for a proper funeral and final resting place, surrounded by her loved ones. The family is currently raising funds to cover the costs of repatriation, transportation, and funeral services in Nicaragua.”
As of Monday evening, approximately $9,200 had been raised to support the family’s efforts to return Sanchez’s body to her home country.
The Dollar Tree location where Sanchez was found remained closed for part of Sunday while police conducted their investigation.

The Daily Mail reported that the store later reopened the same day. Dollar Tree did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
The circumstances surrounding how Sanchez ended up inside the store’s freezer, particularly during overnight hours before the store opened, have not been publicly explained.
Investigators have not disclosed whether Sanchez had any known connection to the business or why she may have been inside the store prior to opening.
Miami police said they are continuing to review evidence and gather information related to the case. Additional details are expected to be released pending the outcome of the investigation.
