Sydney Sweeney makes a striking return as Cassie in the newly released trailer for Season 3 of Euphoria, marking the first official look at the long-awaited continuation of the HBO series.

The trailer confirms that the new season will feature a time jump set “a few years after high school” and is scheduled to premiere on April 12, as reported by The New York Post.

Sweeney, 28, joined the series during its debut season in 2019 and returns alongside original cast members, including Zendaya as Rue, Jacob Elordi as Nate, Maude Apatow as Lexi, and Hunter Schafer as Jules.

The trailer shows Cassie in several provocative scenes that indicate a dramatic evolution for the character.

In one moment, she appears wearing a brown corset styled as a dog costume, complete with ears and a tail, as she poses in front of the camera.

In another sequence, Cassie is shown filming content on a bed when she is interrupted by Nate, who appears to be her fiancé.

“I work all day, and my bride-to-be is spread-eagled on the internet,” Elordi’s character says in a voiceover.

“I was just making content,” Cassie responds, suggesting that her character has become an OnlyFans-style creator during the time jump.

The trailer also briefly previews what appears to be Cassie and Nate’s wedding celebration, showing the couple smiling for a camera while seated at a long table decorated with orange and pink floral arrangements.

HBO also released an official logline ahead of the premiere, stating: “A group of childhood friends wrestle with the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption, and the problem of evil.”

Sweeney previously spoke about her return to the show during Variety’s Power of Women event in Los Angeles in October. Speaking to E! News at the time, she teased what viewers could expect from Cassie in Season 3.

“Hold on to those dildos,” Sweeney joked.

“It’s Cassie, what do you expect?”

The actress, who also stars in films such as Anyone But You and Housemaid, indicated that the upcoming season may mark her final appearance as Cassie.

“This is actually my last week filming. It’s going to be super bittersweet,” Sweeney said. “I grew up with all these people.”

She added, “I filmed the pilot when I was 20 and Season 1 when I was 21, so it’s definitely a crazy experience having a character with you for so long. I get the privilege of working with a lot of the same crew and the cast for such a long amount of time, and that usually doesn’t happen.”

Series creator Sam Levinson addressed the decision to include a time jump during an HBO event last month.

“The one thing we all agreed on is we can’t go back to high school — although many, many shows have had 30-year-old high school students, we’re not,” Levinson said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Five years felt like a natural place, because if they had gone to college, they’d be out of college at that time.”

Levinson also described the upcoming season as the “best season yet.”
