Maxine Waters (D-CA) spoke outside the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) on Monday, addressing a gathering where she criticized Elon Musk.

As reported by The Gateway Pundit, the event took place as President Trump’s administration implemented changes to the CFPB, including the recent dismissal of its Biden-era chief.

Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought announced that the CFPB would not be receiving additional funding at this time, stating that the agency’s current balance of $711.6 million is sufficient.

“Pursuant to the Consumer Financial Protection Act, I have notified the Federal Reserve that CFPB will not be taking its next draw of unappropriated funding because it is not ‘reasonably necessary’ to carry out its duties,” Vought stated.

A protest took place outside CFPB headquarters on Monday in response to these developments. During her speech, Waters criticized Musk and accused him of working against consumer protections.
