Actor William Shatner, 94, was hospitalized in Los Angeles late Wednesday after suffering a medical emergency related to his blood sugar, according to sources with direct knowledge of the incident.
Shatner, best known worldwide for his role as Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek television series, reportedly called emergency services from his home when his health took a sudden downturn.
A Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance responded, and he was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

The incident comes more than a year after Shatner publicly disclosed that he is a cancer survivor.
He revealed that he had previously been diagnosed with stage four melanoma, which he treated with surgery followed by immunotherapy.

He did not specify when the diagnosis occurred.
In 2016, he faced another cancer scare when he was told he might have prostate cancer, a diagnosis that proved false after doctors determined his elevated PSA levels were caused by testosterone supplements.
“That was really scary,” Shatner recalled in an interview with NBC News at the time.
“I was told by a doctor I had a terminal disease. That I was going to die.”
He later stopped taking the supplements and said the levels normalized.
Shatner continues to remain active in both entertainment and fan events.
Just last month, he appeared at Dragon Con in Atlanta to participate in a panel with fans.
His IMDb page lists multiple acting projects currently in development, and he has maintained a presence at conventions where he meets with long-time supporters of the franchise that made him famous.
The Canadian-born actor portrayed Captain Kirk from 1966 to 1969 on Star Trek: The Original Series, alongside Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, and Nichelle Nichols.
He reprised the role in the animated series and in seven feature films, including the 1982 release Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
His career later included leading roles in T.J. Hooker, the Miss Congeniality films, and numerous television projects.
Shatner’s personal life has also drawn attention in recent years. He reunited with his fourth wife, Elizabeth Martin, during the COVID-19 pandemic after their 2019 split and 2020 divorce.
Martin, a retired equestrian, was married to Shatner for 18 years before the divorce.
Their reunion has fueled speculation about remarriage, though Shatner has said in interviews that the two are “in effect remarried” without legal formalities.
In August, the pair were spotted at Jon & Vinny’s restaurant in Los Angeles, where Martin was seen wearing a diamond ring on her left hand.
Despite arriving separately, they spent about an hour together before leaving.
Reports circulated earlier this year suggesting they may hold a small private ceremony, but representatives for Shatner have denied such claims.
Shatner has been married four times. His first marriage to Canadian actress Gloria Rand produced three daughters, Leslie, 67, Lisabeth, 64, and Melanie, 61.
His second marriage to Marcy Lafferty lasted more than two decades. His third wife, Nerine Kidd, died tragically in 1999 at age 40. He married Martin in 2001, and the two have remained closely linked despite their brief separation.
In addition to his acting career, Shatner is an accomplished horse breeder and has been deeply involved in equestrian circles for decades.
His bond with Martin, also connected to the horse world, began after she wrote to him following Kidd’s death, a gesture that eventually grew into a lasting relationship.
Shatner’s representatives have not yet released an official statement regarding his hospitalization.
His most recent public appearances suggested that he remained in good health, and sources close to him say he is expected to continue with his scheduled projects once he recovers.
